Weekend Wanderer | Philadelphia Edition

I am originally from Pennsylvania, just a train ride away from the City of Brotherly Love. And as much as I love the city, I never really experienced it fully while I lived there. So now when I go back to visit, I try to venture out and enjoy it.

The last trip I took, I stayed for a few weeks and got to check out some areas I hadn’t before. Honestly, all major cities always has something going on. When I was visiting the city was just getting back to more normal business and there was plenty to do.

One area I hadn’t really explored before was Passyunk Square. I had found a cute rooftop bar online that was nearby, Bok Bar, which brought me to the area. The bar itself was okay. It wasn’t a full bar, they had beer, wine and a few cocktail options. On the website they provide a calendar of their featured pop-up food partners. The cool thing about the bar is it used to be a school, and the bar is on the roof. After the fact I read that the building was leased to other businesses, but when we walked in, it looked just like a school. There was someone to guide us to the bar, but if I didn’t read about it, I would have thought the school was still operating. Now the view from the top of the school was excellent.

After the bar, we ventured back over the square which has a street full of different restaurants and a few stores. Did a couple stops along the way, cause why not?! First stop was at Bing Bing Dim Sum. We tried the Caterpillar Bread, which I mean just sounded fun, and tasted good too. Had a drink along with it, which wasn’t the right choice for me because it was spicy and had cilantro in it. I love me spicy food, but I don’t like my drinks spicy… And the cilantro too, wasn’t for me.

And finally ended off the night at Good Moo’d Creamery. What a cute name! It’s a small rolled ice cream spot which is perfect after a dinner and a walk in the area. The ice cream was yummy, but how can you go wrong with ice cream? And it’s just so fun to watch them make it!

I’d never been to this part of town before, but I’d definitely go back! There were so many restaurants on the strip that I would wander into any day. So if you need a spot for a good bite in the city, wander down to Passyunk Square.
