Had a fun quick adventure out on the town to try a new spot. Another TikTok recommendation coming in for the win! This place popped up on my For You page and I was surprised I never heard about it, but it looked cute so I gave it a go.

To be honest, I’m not much of a matcha fan. This is confusing because I don’t hate iced green tea… But matcha has too much of an earthy flavor for me. To also be fair, most of the time I’ve had it hasn’t been super authentic, aka Starbucks. Not that I know what authentic is for matcha, judging by their chai, I’d say not really authentic. So I was excited about this spot because it seemed like it would be the real deal.

I ordered an iced matcha latte with oat milk. At first sip, the earthy notes hit me, and I felt like it was a no for me. But then, it grew on me. Once I got used to the initial flavor, the latte was much smoother than I expected. I can’t say it’s my new to-go order, but if I was in town or stopped by this cafe again, I’d order it again.

Now the thing that caught my eye on Tik Tok was the… ice cream, duh! It looked so good! They usually have matcha and vanilla flavor, and for now, they also had taro. I ordered the taro + ice boba sundae. Yeah, BOBA SUNDAE. Genius. The boba was perfect, not overly sweet + perfectly chewy. And the taro ice cream was really good. I’m not sure if I know how to describe taro, I’ve had it as a boba flavor before… All I can say is both as a boba drink and in this ice cream, it was creamy and delicious. Vanilla, on the other hand, wasn’t it. It oddly wasn’t as smooth as the taro and tasted off. But I was more than happy with the taro + boba, so it all worked out. I would be curious to try the matcha flavor next time!

It’s a cute little spot amongst some great foodie spots on Mills. Worth checking out if you are in the area, especially if you enjoy matcha!

Update: I’ve gone back here, many times, mainly for the matcha! And I’ve got to say, it’s grown on me and I’ve only had great experiences since. It’s definitely become my go-to matcha place, especially when I’m in the area. I’ve also tried that matcha ice cream and it was just as good as the taro was.

And i tried the viral banana pudding matcha and this may be the first miss for me. The texture of the pudding in the drink was not it for me. But a fun concept. The flavors with but not the textures.
