Norigami | Orlando Foodie Finds

There’s a time to save and a time to splurge. Omakase is always the time to splurge, and Norigami is actually a very affordable omakase experience. This was my second omakase, but hopefully not my last! Omakase is such a top-tier foodie experience. I love the idea of leaving the experience to the chefs, the true creators, to develop a meal that highlights their craft and ultimately surprises and delights the guests. There is an element of creativity from the chefs, but also the simplicity of letting the flavors of the food shine on its own. It’s simple and extravagant at the same time. Brilliant!

I was excited to hear about Norigami! It’s located inside Plant Street Market in Winter Garden, Florida. It’s a super cute, quaint little part of town I love. It’s an 8-seat little booth within the market, so make sure you reserve a spot if you are thinking of going! They have the omakase experience or you are welcome to order from their a la carte menu.

Obviously, I opted for the Omakase experience. Which as I mentioned is affordable at $60 and includes 10 items. I will say I felt a bit awkward because I dined alone, being a small setup within a very busy marketplace. That is more of a personal issue, you know? It was impressive to see the restaurant being fully run by 2 guys making and serving everything. I was excited to try the creations and loved the touch of each item being served on a piece of origami paper. The pacing of the food was great and by the end, I felt like I had a solid meal.

I wish I had better attention because we were told what we were being served – but I instantly forgot because I was busy grabbing a picture and stuffing my face. I would say out of the 10 things, I really enjoyed ~7 of them. Our last item was miso soup, which I don’t mind, but didn’t need or rather would have preferred something else. There were 2 items I recall that just weren’t my personal favorite, but that’s a very small portion in the grand scheme of things. The rest was delicious! There was a jumbo shrimp roll which was delightful. I really wish I remembered the other items cause there were a few I thought were fantastic. I’ve learned more recently, and it was reaffirmed during this experience that I love hand rolls! So simple and so delicious!

If I can budget to afford this again, I totally would go back! But the a la carte menu is an option too, so maybe I will be there sooner than I think. Honestly, for the price point – it’s unmatched. If you love sushi and want a great experience, give it a go!
