Now that we are in fall, a bowl of ramen is always on my mind. Thinking about it now… I want a bowl for dinner tonight! I feel like I should be eating soup more in general. You can hide veggies in there, and get hydrated. It is just the ultimate cozy dish. JINYA is a great ramen spot in downtown Orlando. I’ve also since found out that this is a chain with locations all over the U.S.
If I remember correctly my cousins were in town and we all agreed on ramen and my one cousin found it on Google. I had been to the area so many times and hadn’t realized it was even there, right by Lake Eola. The main and only real issue I have with JINYA is that they don’t take reservations, so you only find out how long the wait is when you get there and put your name in. It’s a pretty small restaurant, so both times I’ve gone, there was a decent wait time. However, there are plenty of bars around, and as I mentioned it’s right by Lake Eola to go for a nice stroll before your meal. It’s really not too bad considering you can kill the time easily.
For some reason, I feel like not as many places have spicy tuna on crispy rice as I’d like, but JINYA does have it on their appetizer menu. So of course I had to get it! It’s a small and wonderful bite. With the crunchiness of the crispy rice and the lovely spicy tuna plus a spicy bite of jalapeno. It’s so simple and complex and the same time. I really want every Japanese restaurant to have this on the menu. And when I went the first time there were 3 of us, so one for each person! I believe I ordered the Tonkatsu Spicy, at least one of the times I went, if not both times. I’m always soooo full after a bowl of ramen and ready for a nap. I love the pork slices and the flavorful broth that I could drink all day every day.
Listen, if you enjoy ramen, and have a JINYA around, go! It’s a great option, even if you have to wait a bit.
