A Court of Thornes and Roses | The Book Nook

I actually read this book a year or so ago. If you are familiar with this book, you know that it’s the first in a series. I knew this and had the second one coming, but held off so long that I forgot the majority of what happened, and then when I went to the second book I was kind of lost. So, I decided to put it on hold on my Libby app and listen through it so I could refresh my memory.

A Court of Thornes and Roses (ACOTAR) is a fantasy romance novel, a super popular one amongst the BookTok girlies. I remember when I was reading this last year and I happened to be reading it public, I almost always got stopped by someone to talk about it. So if you happen to be on the hunt for some friends, highly recommend picking this up and going to a coffee shop.

The overall premise reminds me of The Cruel Prince series, which I picked up after reading this one. I much prefer ACoTaR. I actually think reading this is why I expected so much more from the other series. Because I also liked the main character Feyre because she is a strong independent (human) girl, who still holds her own when she’s taken to the Fairie land.

And this book actually has some romance. The pacing of the book worked really well too. I remember taking it with me all over so I could get a chapter in. It’s an easy and engaging read. And being a series, it did leave me in a spot I wanted to keep reading – even relisten! Honestly, I enjoyed the listen just as much as the original read.
