I’m still feeling out the audiobooks. I’ve mentioned in previous posts, that it’s easier for me to listen when I have some familiarity with the book or series. So sometimes with my audiobooks, I get a bit lost, especially if I’m not fully paying attention at the beginning. So I will caveat that may have influenced this review.
We follow Sadie in this book, one half of a pair of magical twins, who were raised by their feisty grandmother. Sadie’s twin Seth had left town and she’s not too happy about it. She also has a ‘heartbreak curse’ which makes her wary of finding love. That gets tricky when her ex comes back into town and the chemistry is still there.
If I read it verse listened to it I would have enjoyed the chapter divider, but it felt weird as I listened to it. Sadie and her grandmother own a bakery, so each chapter is divided with a magical recipe. I kind of felt like this was the whole book for me. It seemed like a book I’d like with the witchy-ness and cheesy romance.
The idea was there for me, but I just didn’t love it. It’s a simple, quick listen, but I think there are other better options in this genre, like The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches.
