I found out about this spot on the TikTok. I am actually taking a break from TikTok. I don’t know if it’s doing what I thought it would do. Obviously, I was doom-scrolling for hours on end and I just wanted to stop. I think I’m just doing it on Instagram and YouTube now, so I need to work on my social media intake… Ironic as I clearly am chronically online with these posts too.
Any which ways, one thing I miss about living up north is a good hoagie. I will admit a Pub Sub (Publix hoagie) is pretty solid, and I do still have Wawa around. But you know a really good Italian hoagie, it’s not super easy to find. When I saw there was a spot here in Orlando, I wanted to check it out. It’s located on the side of Oviedo Mall, which isn’t too close to me, but at least there’s plenty of mall parking!
I did make the mistake of going on a weekend, and it was pretty packed. Understandably so. It’s pretty small inside, but a lot going on! There’s a cafe on one side, the deli/sandwich counter on another, a bakery area, plus grocery items throughout. It was a bit of stimulation overload, but I think it was because there were also so many people. I went and ordered my sandwich and I obviously went over to the bakery.
I ordered The Sicilian which as described on the menu includes: Boars head branded deluxe ham, serrano ham, manchego cheese, chorizo, fig jam, drizzle of olive oil, on a baguette. And from the bakery, I got a small cannoli and pignoli cookie. I enjoyed all of it. The sandwich/hoagie/sub was delicious, but I don’t think it’s “the one”, you know? I may have to try some other options there, but I think I may still be on the hunt for what I’m dreaming up in my mind. It is a solid sandwich though and flavorful. No fault of D’Amico’s, I think I like the idea of a cannoli than the item itself. I order it so often when I go to Italian spots, but I’d much rather have the tiramisu. I liked the filling, and if it was a cannoli dip, I’d be here for it. This was the first time I tried a pignoli cookie, it was a delight, sweeter than I imagined. But simple and lovely.

Even though it’s a hike, I’d go back here. Honestly, I want to go back for the grocery goods. They have good olive oils and balsamic. I also saw some in-house ricotta and mozzarella that I would totally stock up on. I’d go even to window shop in here, it’s just a fun little market. And I love the markets that specialize in cultural goods, they just have better products. I have a couple go-to Indian and Asian markets that I go to often. And this will be my go-to Italian market now!
