We’re clearly well past the Christmas season. This just goes to show you… I am the world’s slowest reader. I had taken a bunch of photos of Christmas-y-looking books at a local bookstore back during the holiday season and then went to look at what was available on my new Christmas present to myself, a Kindle! I was really just looking for a cheesy rom-com Christmas/holiday book and The Christmas Fix sounded like the perfect choice.

I would say the majority of this book, especially the beginning was totally giving Hallmark movie vibes. I mean the town’s name was Merry… And they were known for their Christmas festivals. It was pretty much a complete cheese-fest, but in the way I was looking for. It basically follows a feisty boss babe Cat King who is a TV fixer-upper personality, think Joanna Gaines, who comes to save Merry. The town had just been hit by a big storm. The mayor of Merry, Noah Yates, is a divorced single dad and a bit of a humbug with a heart of gold.

Now I was all about the cheesy rom-com, right on the noseness of this book. What I wasn’t expecting was the extreme level of smut that it turned into. And once it started, it did not stop. And I honestly cannot say I was mad about it either. But it totally went from a G-rated Hallmark movie to XXX real quick. So if you do pick it up, beware. I found out after the fact that this was written by Lucy Score who is known for the ‘Knockemout’ series. I have seen the covers of those books all over the place, and I’m going to make an assumption that it’s probably the same level of smutty.

Anywhos, with the warnings in mind and acknowledging the ridiculousness of the Christmas-based book, I did rather enjoy it. It was a quick and easy read. Had the rom-com level of cuteness and a bunch of steam. I am totally in my old-lady romance novel era. I totally get it if you want to save this for the next holiday season, cause it is weird to read or watch super Christmas-y-themed content out of season. I would recommend it for a light read.
