If I have somewhere to go in the morning, I’ll do a quick Google search to see if there are any coffee shops on the way that I haven’t tried. This past weekend I went to Bok Tower with my friend, which is quite the hike from me. It was actually pretty close to where I used to live, but now it was 1+ hours away. Sometimes a long quiet drive is now to just throw on some music and chill and… Try out a new spot.

I found Dark Kafe on the Googlies and I could tell it was a food cart, but I didn’t know exactly where it was located. On the way to Bok Tower it was located in Haines City, but totally felt like it was off of the side of the road in the middle of nowhere. It was in a convenient little parking lot, so I appreciated that. They even had a few seats set up and a couple benches, so if you did wanna chill for a minute you could.

The folks working the cart were super sweet. They were also bilingual, which is awesome and I expected it because when I looked online I saw that their Instagram was mainly in Spanish. Right now they had some summer drinks, I went for the creamsicle matcha latte. If you’re new here, I’ve really come to love a matcha with a fruity touch. I asked for half the sweetener and it was perfect. I was actually so disappointed when I finished. There was a decent hint of orange. If the full syrup was added I’m sure the orange would have been stronger, but I’m ok with sacrificing that so it was not overly sweet. I was also a big fan of the cold foam on top, it added the creaminess to play into a creamsicle part of this drink. I love that cold foam is so popular now, it’s basically whipped cream, not fully whipped. And we know, I love whipped cream.

The cart also serves some food options. I ordered the breakfast burrito, which you can choose a protein for, and I got sausage. This may be a bold statement, but it’s my favorite breakfast burrito I’ve gotten here in Orlando so far. It was made fresh and also had eggs, cheese, and a hashbrown. The only thing I wish they had was hot sauces. The burrito came with a salsa, but it needed the heat of a good hot sauce. I saved half and had it for breakfast the next day. I always have Taco Bell hot sauce packets on hand, and it was perfect.

This cart was a random hidden gem of a find. My main critique is it’s so far away from me and that it’s such an odd location. Aside from going back to Bok, which I may do, I have no reason to go up to that area. I really enjoyed my order and if it was more convenient, I would add it to my rotation.
