A pretty popular coffee shop in the heart of downtown Orlando. A few years ago, a friend and I had walked around town and stumbled on it. I had already had too much coffee that day, so all I recall is having a caffeine high at the end of the day. Plus, I think something was up with their plumbing, cause I just recall a really bad smell. Recently gave it another try, and I’m glad I did.

The Caffeination: The first time I’d been back since that first visit was a few months back, and I ordered a blueberry matcha along with a one + one. The blueberry matcha was decent, but a bit too sweet. I hadn’t seen anything like a one + one on a menu before; it caught my eye, a shot of espresso and a macchiato. To be honest, I don’t know if it was meant to be drunk separately or added together. I drank it separately, and both were fantastic. Fresh espresso and a perfect macchiato.

The next time I went back, it was a similar situation. I saw that one of the seasonal drinks was a Black Sesame matcha. I am a big fan of sesame flavor, so I was sold. Similar to the other matcha, it was on the sweet side. I got more cookies + cream than sesame, but I thought it was a good dessert-y drink. I preferred it over the blueberry one. For whatever reason, this was another 2 bevergino day for me. I ended up getting the Coffee Cola. After the shakerato I got at Framework, now I love trying carbonated coffee drinks. And this one didn’t disappoint. It was refreshing on a hot summer Orlando morning. A little sweet, but not as much as the matches, perfectly bubbly.

The Vibe: It’s a super popular spot downtown. Two out of the three times I’ve gone, it’s been pretty steady with people. There is a decent amount of space, so like me for one of those visits, people sit and work or study for a while. It’s pretty lax and gives me hipster-y vibes.

The one thing I will call out on the day I studied was that the service was a bit off. It could have been a one-off situation that day. While ordering, they didn’t take down names, and it was rather busy. My friend waited quite a while for his drip coffee, and my second order – the coffee cola – was forgotten. After it had been a while and I’d not seen anything, I asked. It was clear they had no idea, but then they went ahead and made it.

The Parking: Can be a bit tricky, as it’s mainly street meter parking. I’ve lucked out for the most part and found meter parking right next to it on Palmetto Ave. If you’re dropping by Lake Eola, it’s not too far of a walk. There are also parking garages in the area.

Overall: A few odd experiences, between the plumbing issues and the off-service. I do think their espresso and coffee are rather good. I prefer some of the other spots in town for matcha.

I love the amount of space available for folks to come and work or hang out. It’s been cool to see their coffee + house party events too. We love the creation of third spaces. They are working on a second location in Winter Garden. I’m super excited about it since it’s closer to my side of town. I’d definitely stop in for a good cup of coffee.
