If any of you follow my personal blog posts, you may have come across my workout journey. It’s consistently a work in progress, but I’ve been attending aerial yoga classes once a week. The studio is close to most of all the best spots in the heart of Orlando, so it’s hard to not stop for something before I head home. On my last visit, I ended up at Cultivo.
The Atmosphere: Hot. On a Florida summer day. Cultivo is a coffee truck, a mobile home turned into a coffee shop right off Primrose Drive. The mobile home is super cute and paired with another mobile home food truck, Purple Ocean Superfood Bar. There is only outdoor seating. On a good day, it would be a great place to hang out. There are a few tables set up out front, but there are also some seats behind the trucks under some shade. If you’re sticking around, trying to claim a spot there is the best option. Unless you don’t mind melting.
The Caffeine: There are a few specialty drinks on the menu and a few coffee and matcha options as well. The specialty items had names, but no descriptions, so I asked the server for descriptions. She mentioned the Flan Latte was one of the most popular, so I went for it. As a latte, it is pretty average. Basically, a caramel latte. A fun aspect was that there was a flan-flavored cold foam, and I do love me a cold foam or whipped top. Plus, there was a scoop of flan on top. Unlike the Banana Pudding Matcha at Maiko Cafe Matcha, this snack on a drink actually worked. Or maybe I just like flan more, could be that. I’d still snack on the flan first. But even when this one dropped or mixed into the drink, it’s smooth enough that it wasn’t such a harsh contrast. I thought it was a fun addition to the drink. Not so much this is a bad drink, they even made it with half the sweetness per my request. I just need to accept the fact I’m not a latte girly. I much prefer an iced coffee or cold brew. More caffeine, light hint of creamer, please.
The Parking: There is a tiny sliver of parking for these two spots. It was completely full and cramped to get in and out of. Right next door is F&D Woodfired Italian Kitchen with plenty of parking. I don’t know that you are ‘allowed’ to park there, but that’s what I did and what I recommend.
Overall: Love this concept. On a spring day, I would totally love hanging outside with a good drink. The latte was decent and they had a few other options that I’d give a try. I saw that they host ‘Cafecito Sessions’, which seems like a good time. Live music, fun photo-ops, and just a lax community event. I’ve seen a few coffee shops doing a similar thing, and I think having the outdoor space at Cultivo really works great for an event like that.
