So many Disney reviews lately! I do like on-property restaurants, just not the prices. This was my second time at Steakhouse 71 and a very different experience. The first time I went probably last year, we didn’t have a reservation so my friends and I just ordered food at the lounge which is a different menu. This time around, I made a reservation – on Christmas Eve!

I started the dinner off with a solid drink, the Twisted Fig. I feel like this is the first time on this blog I’m talking about a non-tequila drink. This was a scotch-based drink, and I did enjoy it. My friend ordered the Cocoa Boulevardier, which he found very difficult to drink. And have to note, these were Disney prices, ringing in at $17 and $18. It’s very hard to justify these drink prices, but it is very standard at Disney.

We started the meal with the Lump Crab Cakes, which were delicious. They came on some Old Bay Rémoulade, Corn Hash, and House-made Saltine Crackers, which was also delightful. It’s a decent size, just enough for my friend and I to split. Onto dinner, I got the top sirloin with broccolini as a side. The steak came with a sauce of your choice as well, I chose the Au Poivre sauce. I had asked for recommendations and was told this one was peppery, which I do like peppery. Honestly, the steak was very mid and I didn’t end up liking the sauce either. The broccolini was nothing exciting, but good.

Hot tip. My friend had heard that their burger was good and was planning to order it, but we didn’t see it on the menu. He did ask our waitress and she was super sweet and made it happen. He did really enjoy it. I believe it’s usually on the lunch menu, but they were super accommodating, I mean it was Christmas Eve.

The restaurant is nice and in the Contemporary which is nice. My friend and I went on a cute little monorail bar crawl afterward too. It was a nice time, I did wish I enjoyed my entree more, but maybe I ordered it wrong or the wrong cut. But I’d think you couldn’t go wrong with any steak at a steakhouse. I would come back here, but not as frequently as other places.
