Village Lantern Coffee Co. | Coffee Date

I kept driving by a coffee sign on the side of the road and was confused. Tucked off the road right near Prairie House, I was wondering if it was a sign that they were up the road. Twas not the case. There is, in fact, a coffee trailer that has popped up off Oakland Ave. Apparently, mobile coffee trailers are all the rage these days.

The Parking: Obviously, it is off the road. Yet, there is actually some land where a handful of cars can stop off and park while you grab a cup of Joe. I think it’s plenty for a spot like this.

The Atmosphere: The trailer itself is super cute. Very different than Those Guys. I appreciate that even the trailer has its own unique flair. This trailer gives a farmhouse vibe, whereas I’d say Those Guys gives off more hipster. There are some cute string lights setup and it appears they were setting something up while I was there, maybe a bit of seating. On a nice, warm (but not Florida hot) day, it would be nice to have a cup of coffee outside. For me, it would be more of a drop-by on the way to work or a stop-in to take out while driving-by spot.

The Coffee: They have enough options, including the standard coffee selections and a few specialty drinks. Plenty of choices for a small coffee trailer. I went for the iced Oatmeal Cookie Latte. An oatmilk-based latte that consists of brown sugar and white mocha, topped with cold foam and caramel drizzle. Of course, I asked for it half-sweet. Sweetness-wise, I think they nailed it. The flavors were a bit underwhelming. I don’t know why I was expecting it to taste more cookie-like. I suppose the name is just more fun than brown sugar latte, which is basically what it was. The espresso tasted a bit burnt. Not sure if it was just my batch. I did get a medium size, which came with 2 shots of espresso. As someone who doesn’t always love a latte, I thought the milk-to-espresso-to-sugar ratio was decent. It wasn’t bad.

Being in my neighborhood, I could see myself stopping by again. I’d like to see if the burnt espresso was just an off shot. It was run by a sweet, what I believe is a mother-daughter team. They were super friendly, and I am always happy to support local. I cannot say it’s my favorite coffee shop in greater Orlando, but it’s a great addition to the Oakland/Winter Garden/Clermont area.
