New coffee shops are popping up so often that I can barely keep up. Ligature isn’t quite new, with pop-ups over the years and being one of the leading roasters local to Orlando. It’s awesome to see local businesses evolving… Especially as someone considering it myself.
The Parking: Reminds me of the parking at Audubon Park. I appreciate there being a parking lot. And when I went on a Friday afternoon, there were plenty of spots. A bit claustrophobic, but not bad at all.
The Atmosphere: An unpretentious spot, with a touch of funk. A decent amount of space, a few tables, and a cute couch area. I liked the tiled barista bar. Also appreciated how big the barista bar was relative to the rest of the space. They don’t have seating at the bar, but they totally could if they get busy.
The Coffee: They have pre-made draft lattes, which they let you sample. While I was in, there was a peach-flavored latte, always with oat milk. It wasn’t my cup of Joe, but I appreciated the interesting flavor. The other piece with the draft latte is that you can’t really customize it. For me, it’s about the sweetness level. With a pre-made mix, you get what you get.
I ended up getting a cold brew with a bit of their brown sugar vanilla and toasted coconut flavors. I really wanted to love it. It was just okay. I do appreciate that they have a simple menu and very reasonable prices. Also, cold brew, I don’t think, is a great defining factor for a coffee shop. I’d like to go back and try one of their other espresso drinks or a draft latte flavor that I know is more up my speed.
I recently saw they now have a black sesame chocolate cookie on tap. That is right up my alley. I kind of want to go try it. By the time I make it back, it may change again. But maybe it’ll be even better!
All to say, my visit didn’t wow me, but I totally think Ligature is a spot worth visiting. I would go back to try something different. They’ve been in the coffee game for a while, and there is no doubt they know what they’re doing. The brick and mortar is just getting started. I love a place that is willing to try interesting flavors and combinations. As well as pricing their drinks fairly in this economy. I’m really excited to see how they grow.
